Talent Show Dance

We had a talent show at church this week. My kids did a number... it was so cute and they learned it in a day. Unfortunately our real video camera malfunctioned at the event and we didn't get the performance recorded "live." Which is too bad because at the end they threw candy out into the audience and it was funny. Also, they did their best because of the cheering they were getting.

I am totally relishing their ages right now because a year or two ago there is NO way Logan would have done something like this, and in a few years I'm sure he won't want to again. But for now, they were all into it.

Here's a pre-recorded version.... Macey is a bit halfhearted in it toward the end, and then quits earlier but it is what we have so enjoy!

Christmas Card Outtakes

My goal for tonight was to get our Christmas card pictures ordered.

Well, I'm still sitting here trying to decide which one to pick!

The afternoon that we had them taken was coooold. CC was not feeling well. AJ was so little that I hated having him out in the air. My big kids would smile and then run off again to play in the dirt. It was like herding cattle. Plus I have control issues and hated not being behind the camera. I was yelling, and laughing too, at the craziness of it all. None of them turned out perfect but darnit we are going to have a Christmas card this year because I picked out the clothes and put forth huge effort to get everyone ready to go!

In the meantime please enjoy some outtakes. These outtakes turned out great!

Peek a boo Lexi!

CC has had enough!

CC eats dirt while Macey watches.

Look over there- there's a birdie!

Poor AJ's head got a little bit dropped that time.

Big hugs.

Just chillin'

Macey's attitude caught on film.

Macey's face gets scratched.

LOOK CC!!!

I love baby AJ.

The Chair Results

Here is a list of my thoughts on the chair poll:

The first night of the poll, I was offended because my chair was losing by a lot and I couldn't believe that everyone hated it.

Then I thought Celia had paid people to vote for hate.

Then I almost e-mailed my entire family and told them to come to my blog and vote "love it".

But then I decided I wanted the true vote. So I let the poll run it's course and did not ask loved ones for help at all. Besides, I know a few loved ones who do not love the chair.

Then the poll just kept going on and on and it was too long.

I was sick of the poll.

Then the chair pulled ahead for a few brief hours on Tuesday during the day!! Woo-hoo!

Then the race was neck and neck for quite awhile and I thought someone had figured out a way to rig the poll and mess with me.

And I still thought the chair would win.

Then the haters pulled ahead and stayed ahead to the bitter end.

And when I say bitter, I mean bitter. I'm bitter.

I hate 101 of you.

And you hate me.

Because my chair= me.

Thanks a lot.

For revenge, I will posting a lot of pictures of the chair that you can't stand.

Also, do you like pottery barn? Cause look what I just found here!

and here!

and here!

Florals are IN!

Who's hating my chair now? Hmm?

p.s. I don't really hate you.

It was fun and I still love my chair.

Please Vote on my Chair- Just for Fun

My good friend Celia is very honest. I appreciate that- even if it hurts just a little. She hates my chair! Can you believe it?? Yes, I know that the floral fabric could appear to some to be "grandma-ish." Celia termed it "church foyer-ish."

She expressed her feelings long ago before I had begun recovering it. I did not listen and went ahead and recovered it anyway. I still love it. I needed something that was bright in my dark room- so it works. But everytime she comes over she has to laugh at my chair, and then I have to wonder if everyone hates it and they're all just lying to me?

Which leads me to want to hear from you. Please cast your vote on the left in my sidebar. I am not easily offended, so be honest. Thank you.

Things that make Dave and I laugh:

-awkward life situations. We call these situations "doc awk" for short and they make us laugh. Even if it is inappropriate (like at church where these occur frequently), we still laugh... but we try not to and you all know how that makes it even harder.

-"what if" scenarios. We like to make these up. Especially about other people. Try it. It's fun.

-bodily functions. This one I do not agree with but Dave has dragged me to the dark side of thinking toots are funny.

-car fights. Dave and I fight the most in the car when he's driving because I'm a control freak and don't like the way he does it. So I'll complain about him driving too slow and then he goes crazy and starts speeding around ridiculously. Then I get mad at that and then he's like, "what?!?" and then he misses the exit or street we need. Then we start laughing at ourselves. Then we laugh really hard imagining ourselves 80 years old and still fighting in the car. Then we stop laughing because, woops! Dave is driving in the far right lane on the freeway and that is NOT ok.

-our ignorance. Sometimes we'll be talking about something and both of us will pretend we know stuff... but really we don't, and then we laugh.

I love laughing. It makes me have strong abdominal muscles. I need to do it more. What makes you laugh? Please tell, and make me laugh.

D-dawg Hits the Slopes!

Apparently skiing makes me want to sing.

Watch my mom almost run into me in this one, her face is hilarious. Also, I almost fall.

Kaley and Kelly hadn't been skiing in 5 or so years so we nicknamed Kaley "the big x" due to her lack of form.

Tell me if any of the videos don't work. Thank you.

On Starving and Biting Oneself

Why is it that every fast Sunday, by the time it is time to eat again (finally), I am so incredibly hungry that I stuff my face and chew so fast that I inevitably bite myself somewhere in my mouth.

It might be my tongue, or the inside of my cheek that is bitten. Either place, I end up taking a huge chunk out of my mouth and it hurts. And then I can't really eat without experiencing some pain because of my fresh wound. It is the worst.

I wish I could just calm down and chew slowly and carefully. That is always my plan but as the day wears on I find myself becoming more and more desperate.

Today was especially rough when Macey opened up a bag of skittles from her Halloween pumpkin and the fruity smell came wafting through the air to land on my eager nostrils. I almost attacked her to get that bag. But I mustered the tiny bit of energy that I had left, and held myself back. In fact, I tied myself to a chair. (In my mind).

Then the struggle returned when I served my children chicken salad on Ritz crackers for a snack. Macey only ate one deliciously laden cracker and left her plate at the table covered in scrumptiousness. Maybe I sneaked one, maybe I didn't. You'll never know.

Moving on. I know that you're not supposed to complain about fasting. So that's not what I'm doing. I'm just saying that it's really hard, and it hurts my body, and it makes me tired, and I hate it. Oops! That sounded like complaining! I'm just kidding about all of that anyway. Ha Ha Ha (nervous laugh)

So all of this leads me to my question. Is my body, eating myself on purpose? I mean, when my teeth bite my mouth flesh, are they meaning to? Because it (my body) is just so hungry? And it will eat anything it can get its teeth on? Whether or not it is human flesh?

I'm curious about this, because it is just seems too coincidental to really be a coincidence. I'm pretty sure, when fasting, that my body takes on a life of its own and controls my every move carelessly ignoring the pleas from my true self to slow down and be careful, and eat only food, not flesh.

Later, enjoying dessert.

Stuff

1. Macey had a revelation the other night! When I was putting her to bed she told me that Heavenly Father told her she should sleep in Lexi and Logan's room! She's been wanting to so bad lately. So we ended up moving her in there (the next night. of course we couldn't do it that very night cause I don't want her to think these "revelations" can get her what she wants) and so far, things are going fine!

2. I need to sign up for traffic school and I keep forgetting. Dave felt sorry for me about my ticket, and since he's the expert, he mailed all my stuff in. But now the traffic school info. needs to be turned in and paid for soon and I keep forgetting! I'm scared I really am going to forget and get arrested and dragged off to court. And Dave is not helping me because he's trying to teach me to be responsible for myself. And the ticket is my fault so I should do it. But it's hard.

3. Do you ever see someone eating in their car? And they think no one is watching and so they go crazy and are totally oinking out? Well, the other day I got a GOOD laugh at this woman who was doing that! She had a huge bagel and was obviously starving! She was taking huge bites and not even swallowing and then she tried to stuff 3/4 of the bagel in all at once! I was totally laughing but a little nervous for her too, thinking she might choke! I almost took a picture but decided against it. If she had seen me she could've followed me home and tried to fight me. Plus, I shouldn't laugh cause maybe she really was starving? You never know.

That's my stuff. Have a nice weekend everyone!

How to Have a Fantastic!! Friday Night Out

First, start off by buying yourself something new to wear.
That always makes the night a little more exciting.

Next, pick some people to go out with. Good company is essential!!
Thirdly, make sure your date picks you up in a super hot sports car like the one seen below. Oh and make sure your date is super hot too, like the one seen below.

Choose somewhere to eat. We chose Chilean food because my brother just got home from a mission in Chile. This is the ONLY Chilean food in the whole bay area! A little Cafe in Berkeley.

Of course it is always fun to try something new. And sometimes when you try something new, the food turns out to be GREAT! Then the night is extra fun. This food was delicious and very authentic. We tried lots of new things. My favorite was the Empanadas con Queso.

Fourth, decide on something fun to do after you eat. We headed over the the famous.....

We walked around campus, and up and down telegraph laughing at weird people, and trying to look like we fit in with the pot-smoking dreadlocked hippies. It didn't really work.

On the way home, we decided to cruise around downtown Walnut Creek listening to Chilean music and pretending like we were in high school again.

We turned the music up, danced wildly in our seats, and yelled to people walking on the streets.

I LOVE the above picture of Devin air-guitaring.

I'm sure the yuppies of Downtown Walnut Creek LOVED our music and our moves.

And we also made some music videos.

By the way, I can't speak Spanish.

Did I really just put those music videos on the world wide web?

And last but NOT LEAST, make sure you end the night with delicious dessert.

This is what I wish I had had.
But, alas, we were too stuffed full to get dessert. I know you're thinking.... "What?!? Too full for dessert?" Well, you're right, we weren't too full. We just couldn't find anything we wanted and ended up going home after our Chilean cruising and dance party.

The End.

P.S. Aren't Friday nights out on the town the best?
It is really what gets me through the week.
