Putting up the Christmas Tree

We put the Christmas tree up the day after Thanksgiving but of course I'm just now getting to the pictures. We had the traditional music on, large bowls of caramel popcorn (Mack had to have a small fit that he didn't get any), ornament hanging, and dancing. It's a favorite tradition for all of us- that first night that starts off the season! I can't believe how fast it's going by already- every year it flies by quicker. This year everything feels a little more special because of Mack being here. I love the way he looks up at the tree. I wasn't able to keep him from crawling until after Christmas like I had hoped, but he's not trying to pull it down on himself so that's good. He just crawls around it and touches it but he's gentle. And can I just say that a crawling baby is the cutest thing ever?! I want to pick him up and squish him constantly but he has an agenda and doesn't like to be interrupted. And that's all I have to say tonight. Follow me on twitter or instagram (ddawg05) for more frequent updates- they are just easier and faster than blogger these days. Oh, and take my survey on the sidebar because I need to know.

i cant answer the poll because we don't' spend the same amount on children. not possible now with a 12 year old and a 1.5 yr old. The 1.5 year olds christmas cost about $40 and the 12 year olds over $200. My 4 year old about $75 and my 10 and 6 about $100. I think it's unnecessary to spend the same amount on every child as they get older they cost more, when they are younger they are happier with cheaper things.

Love your pictures of the kids. Do you mind if I ask what lens and what setting you used? My pictures from around the Christmas tree are yellow-ish and not near as crisp as yours.

hi Amanda,

I was using my 35mm 1.4 lens and my settings (for the mack pictures at the top of the post) were:
aperature- 2.0
shutter 1/100
iso- 2000

And I'm sure I cooled it down a little bit in raw.
Hope that helps!

Thanks, Denae! My iso doesn't go that high so I'm wondering if that's the problem.

Merry Christmas!

so, i have the same tree skirt as you which i love, especially because I love your style and taste and maybe, just maybe, your coolness is rubbing off on me. also that first pic of Mack really looks like your other kids!! oh, and i think my poll question would throw your numbers too, because with one kids, it is easy to go overboard!

I love how you write about little Mack...there's a sense of awe and wonder when you, "speak" of him. The way you gush about things like crawling being the cutest thing ever...and how he has an agenda and doesn't like to be interrupted. He will read this one day and know how much his whole family ADORED everything he did.

The pictures are so sweet. You take such amazing pics...every year your Christmas glow so beautifully. I love them all!
