But I'm VERY, VERY nervous about it.
I am worried that my head is too small for them. Like, I don't have enough head to have bangs and regular hair and still room for my face... does that make sense?
I'm also worried that my hair is too thin. Like if I get thick bangs, which is what I want, that it will take all of my hair and there will be just a few long strands left. I lost A LOT of hair after Macky came.
I'm also worried they will drive me crazy and I won't know how to do them and make them look right.
I'm also worried that I will look like I'm 12 with them.
BUT I need something new with my hair. It is thin and growing new hair up top AND it lost its
body after childbirth. So I really, really need something new.
I've always thought dark haired people should not have bangs because it's just this big chunk of dark covering half their face. Then I see cute pictures like this (see below) and I imagine I could pull it off (even though I rarely wear my hair back and I don't have that cute shirt?)

I also like these (see below). A little more "momish" but definitely more styled than what I have right now (aka long and wavy and not really a style).

And these. Except my friend who has bangs says you're not supposed to cut the side hair and this looks like her side hair is cut. But I don't want my side hair cut, because, like I said, I'm worried all of my hair will be a bang and no long stuff left.

This is keeping me up at night.
Plus my friend and hair dresser is moving and I'm so sad about it.
Please advise. If you have experience with bangs I want to hear it.

I think you would look adorable in bangs. When I have bangs it makes my hair look fuller. I say, go for it! If you don't like it, bangs grow back quickly.
I don't do bangs, my forehead is too small. But they do look cute on a lot of people.
Hair doesn't make the woman. The woman makes the hair. Cut it, try it. If you hate it let them grow out. That's the nice thing about hair... it grows back.
I say go for it. I think you'll look great with them!
p.s. I tried something pretty daring with my hair yesterday and I'm not so sure about it...you'll see at Christmas unless I change it before then!!
give it a try! i have dark brown hair, too, and i've done bangs lots of ways. it's not that hard to grow them back out if you don't like it. or pull them back on days when you're not feelin it. you have a great face for any style.
Bangs are fun. You should totally do it. I had bangs a few years ago and loved them. If you're super nervous, you could do what I did. I started with kind of a gradual bang. They could go forward if I was feeling daring, but they were just long enough that with a flat iron, I would make them go kinda to the side. (kinda like your second picture). You could pin them back with a bobby pin if you hate it and your longer hair will flow over it, if that makes sense. Then if you love the look, in a month or so you could go more bold like your first or third picture. Do it!! Woo-hoo. :) btw, you will NOT look 12 because you have such cute style and whatever comes of it, you have the talent of making yourself look like a hottie.
Here's the truth. The other day I thought to myself..."It looks like Denae has grown all of her layers out." The reason I thought that was because the picture on your sidebar labeled, "Me" (it's the top sidebar pic) looks like you have some layer right next to your cheekbones and in your more recent pics the layer looks grown out. You could talk to Jessica Romney...she cut bangs a while ago and it was a big change for her. I would ask her if she has layer on the sides as well or just blunt bangs. I would also ask Tristan. She cut bangs for Kimberly recently and they are fabulous. Tristan could take a look at your face and be able to tell you immediately what would work. (Blunt bangs or some whispy ones in front...if you should layer the sides, etc.) I know Annemarie, Diane and Caroline(MomBabe) are all professionals, too. They could look at your face and tell you what would be best.
I think bangs would be darling on you. They say bangs frame the eyes and really make them pop. You have beautiful, big eyes...you could use the bangs to highlight them.
do IT! i am a hairdresser...I love bangs and when i have a client who is seriously thinking about bangs, I always encourage. It's something new, fun, and they always grow back. and it's not a huge commitment.
Hair is something we can control and change...and I personally think you would look great, darling, etc. with bangs...
they're in ;)
Ahhhh bangs...
I had them, loved them, hated them and realized how much work they are.
1.You need to trim them often and they never look as good, and they always cut more of them everytime.
2. You need to wash your hair more often, you need to style them everyday to look right, unless they are a longer version. You need to layer the sides or it looks like a kindergartner.
3. They can make you break out.
On the plus side, they cover forehead furrows :)
If you still want them after all this, then go for it.
but, remember your hair will grow back from childbirth, I promise.
My rugs were covered in them for months and months after birth, but just when I thought I would be Telly Savalas, it all grew back again.
Good luck
Finally went for bangs 2 years ago after being afraid my whole life! I thought my forhead was too small, but I love them! I don't think I will ever go back. Go for it!!
i would go with picture no. 2 to start out with because you can easily pull/pin them back if they are too annoying. also have your hairdresser do them a little long. then if you find you love them, there's more options.
i love having bangs, but am afraid it makes me look too young; i'm already confused for a 15 year old (when my grays are safely hidden).
i think you could pull it off.
I say do it! I'm getting my hair cut in a week and I think I'm going to get bangs. I need to make a hair change. I'm bored with mine and I lost a lot after having Coop. I had bangs about a year and a half ago and really liked them. Can't wait to party and hold Mack! He is so dang cute! I'm dying over him!
Like everyone else has already said - it's just hair! It'll grow back if you don't like it.
I recently tried to trim my bangs myself... Bad idea. :( I'm hoping they grow out before my SIL's wedding at the end of the month. eek!
I love the first picture you posted. I wish I could get my hair to look like that!
